Day 6 - We're Stoked

We are in Revelstoke, and feeling, well, stoked man!  Absolutely great day today, riding in from Salmon Arm, initially along the east end of Shuswap Lake, past Sicamous, the houseboat capital of Canada (thanks Greg), then into the Eagle River valley which we followed along Highway 1, all the way to Revy.  Great campsite, and just getting ready to walk into town and catch the game as our TV won't pick it up.  We got caught in the rain today for about an hour, and was my first experience riding along a highway with the trucks rolling by giving you the big misty shower, I mean who chooses to go out and ride in the rain.  You can see by the stats that it wasn't a very tough day with only moderate climbing, and just under 100km overall.  I have realized that my sensor on the bike needed a new battery, so replaced it and the info is now 100%, balls on accurate.  Todays stats are from Sid's Garmin......back to mine tomorrow.

Check this out from our pit stop today at the site of the last spike in the CP railway Ocean to Ocean ......that's something like C2C, Coast to Coast I think.

It is interesting to note that we have only seen one other cyclist on the road since we left Vancouver that actually looked like he was doing a trek, and we call him The Panier King.  Saw him close to Hells Gate on the Fraser River and he was cranking it up the hill with full bags on both sides of the bike, front and back........I have to say much more civilized having the guys follow behind you with the trailer.  Jon and Steve have told us about a mysterious single woman cyclist whom they pass every day about a half hour after the morning pit stop with us.  She is Asian, and wears a wide brimmed sun hat under her bike helmet.......we are now obsessed with catching her.

Tomorrow is our first scheduled day off, but we are planning a short ride about 40km east to Canyon Hot Springs, which will knock that much off our ride to Golden the following day, plus we get to do the hot pools.  Pretty good plan I think, and will give us a chance to chat again tomorrow.

One of the benefits of being on a bike, was having a chance to see all the seasonal waterfalls all the way along the highway.  We could have stopped every 15 minutes today and photographed them, but thought this one was pretty special.

Managed to snap this of Sid with a snowcap in the distance while riding......lucky I didn't fall off.
Cheers all.......talk to you tomorrow.
